Cobi 18, a valuable addition to the UvA!
Roy Boomkamp from CSU and his team are responsible for the daily cleaning at the University of Amsterdam. A large part of the daily floor maintenance is now handled by a Cobi 18 scrubber-dryer cobot. Each week, the Cobi 18 autonomous scrubber-dryer cleans between 7,500 and 10,000 m2! For Roy, those numbers are important, but not the deciding factor. Cobi takes over heavy work, which relieves his team—this is an extra added value for CSU!

Daily deployment increases the quality of clean!
The Cobi 18 scrubbing robot ensures consistent cleaning and is deployed on the Science Campus starting at 6:30 AM. After more than 2.5 hours, the team’s newest ‘colleague’ takes a break. A second shift (and refill) guarantees another 1,500 m2 in a different part of the Campus. With the scheduling of smart routes, a daily choice can be made whether and which routes are executed. For example, in “wet weather,” the entrance can be given an extra cleaning boost during the day. On the other hand, certain routes can be excluded if events are taking place. CSU is in control, Cobi 18 executes!
Cobi 18 makes cleaning lighter, more fun, and more efficient
By deploying Cobi 18, employees are relieved of heavy, repetitive cleaning tasks, and the freed-up hours can be used more effectively for other, more important work. This results in less physical strain on employees and the opportunity to focus more on tasks that have higher visibility or priority for the client!
Innovation in the professional cleaning sector
Cleaner becomes operator! How great is that?! By working with new technology and automating cleaning with robots, the image of the cleaning industry gets a significant boost. It is a fact; automation is necessary to ensure a workforce in the future. The shortage of employees is significant, and enthusiasm for the profession is declining. Deploying new technology and robots helps to interest the younger generation in professional cleaning! Cleaning is and remains a craft! Furthermore, teaching Cobi its tasks is a breeze. With a short 5-minute instruction, our team will show you how to assign and execute a route with Cobi.
Cobi was given a new name at the UvA
Students from the Faculty of Science could submit self-invented ‘nicknames’ via the FS platform. These names were among the suggestions:
🔹 The Science Wiper
🔹 Rosie (from The Jetsons)
🔹 Dustbin Beaber
🔹 Tin Man
🔹 R2D2
🔹 Spot (combi Science Park & Robot)
🔹 R-U-DIRT-2
It eventually became the last one on the list! It goes without saying that the Science students embrace Cobi; science and innovation meet on the beautiful Campus in Amsterdam.
